Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
For students who have never played before I help them find an instrument to rent or purchase and help get them everything they need to get started. Then we work from the beginning making sure that students gain a solid foundation in music reading, technique and musicality every step of the way.
For students who have had previous experience on violin or viola I will assess each student at the first lesson and see where they are in their playing ability, their music reading skills, etc. I will then put together a plan for helping them move forward starting with their weakest areas. The goal is to have the student's skills be generally at the same level in all areas so that the student can feel comitent and confident in their playing and so that I can take them to the next level!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Masters of Music Degree in Violin Performance and over 15yrs of teaching exerperience.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

What types of students have you worked with?
I've worked with all ages of students from very beginners to college level students. I've also had experience with students who have ADD, ADHD, clinical anxiety, depression, etc.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Each year I hold two Studio Recitals for my students; one in the fall and one in the spring. These are fun events where students get to show what they've accomplished over the past 6 months to their friends and family. We hold a small reception afterwards and students get to visit with one-another and receive praise for all their hard work!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Feel free to ask anything you want! The more I know about a student and their situation the better I am able to advise. I may not be able to accomodate all requests, but I like to keep open communication with my students and their parents in order to provide the best service possible to them!
