Hybrid Grappling

Zach has been wrestling for over 14 years, and it all started in Indian River County Florida. In middle school he briefly wrestled with Wayne Ivey at Vero Beach HS and then wrestled at Sebastian River High School under Jim Adams and John Martin. While in high school he won 2 district titles and 2 conference titles while earning a team regional victory in 2003.

He then went to the University of Central Florida where he walked on and fought his way to a starting position at 174lbs as a freshman. That year, along with teammates current UFC Fighter Tom Lawlor and world class grappler Jason Patino, UCF won the NCWA National Championship as a team. The next three years Zach All American’ed 3 times, and placed as high as 2nd in the nation. Earning a then league record 140 career wins, and setting a league record 50 win season. Afterwards he stayed on to help coach the Knights to one more National Championship in 2010.

He then moved back to Indian River County and took over a head coaching position with Sebastian River High School. It was at this time he was fortunate enough to meet Renato Tavares and join ATT Vero Beach as their wrestling coach.

Zach competed in professional MMA in Brazil, training at Brasil Fight in Sao Jose do Rio Preto, Sao Paulo. He holds a 2-1 professional record and a 4-1 amateur record. Zach is also a Renato Taveres black belt.

He moved back to Florida in 2016 and opened up a BJJ and Wrestling gym in Sebstian FL before becoming the head wrestlingmcoach at Flagler Palm COast High School where he led the team to a final 4 finish in 2022.
