Upstate Strings Lessons
About
My name is Jada and I have been privately teaching for 6 years. I began my music career in undergrad at Furman University. I obtained my degree in Music Education. While there, I particiated in Gladden String Quartet, Furman Symphony Orchestra, started teaching privately and started a performing string trio.
I currently teach in Spartanburg District 1 as a middle school orchestra director. For the 2019-2020 school year, I will be the orchestra director at Northwestern High School. I have experience teaching students starting at age 5 all the way until adulthood. If you decide to have me as your teacher, I will personalize your learning by evaluating your current progress and choose materials that are correct for your progress. I will continually monitor your progress all while keeping lessons fun and interesting.
I enjoy watching students grow and progress on the instrument. I also enjoy watching students enjoying themselves playing their instruments.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
During the first lesson, I will ask the student to perform a variety of different music in order to grasp their understanding of their instrument. I will listen to their tone, rhythmic accuracy, intonation, as well as other aspects of music. I will also look at their posture. All of this evaluation will help me determine what their needs are and will help me determine areas of growth needed.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Music Education from Furman University.
