About this pro

Offering structured lessons in music theory and practice with a twist of fun.

I am a classically trained pianist and play for my church. I love all styles of music.

I teach because I love sharing the gift of music, and it is very rewarding to see a student progressing, especially when it's a child. I have four grown children of my own, of which three are now involved in music at various levels.

FAQs

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

I start with basic note recognition and where the corresponding notes are on the piano, giving attention to acquiring the ability to read music effectively.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I received eight years of piano lessons and some on a college level. My teacher had me competing in local, state and national competitions, but I did not major in music in college.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

I charge $80 a month for a 30-minute lesson in my home, once a week.

How did you get started teaching?

I taught for awhile after college. Now that my kids are grown, I am teaching again for the enjoyment and joy it gives me.

What types of students have you worked with?

Mostly children, but I will also teach adults.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.

I am a hobby beekeeper, and I sing to my bees all the time. I believe they recognize me and stay calmer through music.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

Find a teacher who loves what they do!

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?

What style of music do you want to learn? Find a teacher who is equipped to teach that particular style, but don't forget how important it is to be able to read music. It can launch you into playing all sorts of instruments if you know how to read it.
