Welcome! I’m Gretchen Brown a piano teacher for over 30 years all ages and all levels. After graduating from Oberlin College with a BM degree in piano performance, I went to Japan and studied the Suzuki Piano Method of teaching with the founder. I teach how to play by ear, as well as reading music, and how to play with natural piano technique to produce beautiful tone whether it’s a very simple folk song, or an advanced classical piece in preparation for a college audition. I love teaching the piano, but even more than that, developing each unique person with life character traits using music as the means to developing wonderful character traits for life. I teach with two fine pianos and demonstrate a lot. In addition to the weekly lesson, I offer bi-monthly performance/master class group lessons in a relaxed non competitive small group where students compliment one another followed bye a little social time and snacks.
