-Since 2013 we have offered a variety of online classes and customized curriculum for music students in a variety of styles and skill sets. These include music classes, private lessons on guitar, piano, bass, vocals, as well as ensemble work and other forms of musical coaching and mentorship. We have experienced teachers who have published numerous books and created online resources including instructional videos. As lead instructor I have passed the current music praxis tests and have held certification in music ed K-12 (in NC). I hold a Masters in guitar performance and studied at Berklee College of Music. I have led many ensembles and taught at the college level since 1992.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I perform a skills assessment and ask them about their goals. Then I help them to decide what their next steps should be.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a BM in Jazz Performance, BA in Music Ed, a Masters in Guitar Performance and completed the two year program at Berklee College of Music.
I have also studied form and analysis privately.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I generally charge $30 a half hour, and $60 an hour.
Currently through the summer I have an introductory cut rate of $25 per half hour lesson.
How did you get started teaching?
I started my first private lessons in high school then continued as a primary income teaching at a music store while in college.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with Jr High, Elementary, Hogh School, College, Adult learners and some with senior adults. I have taught band, orchetsra, chorus, strings, college theory, various ensembles, jazz theory, jazz arranging, keyboard, guitar, bass, voice, ear training and production.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I played guitar in the Performance Edge pit orchestra with a pro ensemble that I had arranged the charts for- included 4 horns and rhythm section. We accompanied a video taping of a college vocal ensemble.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Pick someone with a strong background and proven track record who will work to inspire you as well as teach the fundamentals and techniques you need for success.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What are your goals? What music or musicians/singers/producers inspire you? What level are you wanting to get to and what sacrifices are you willing to make?
