About

Over 35 years of private teaching, 15 years public school music education, many small performing groups. I have also done over 30 years of church music, playing the organ, directing the choirs. Many stage and musical leads, Maria in Sound of Music, Dolly in Hello Dolly, Kate in Kiss Me Kate to name a few. I am someone who has done it all, and loved it all, and made a living at it. Teaching still remains a top love on the list.

Frequently asked questions

1) pre-lesson 1rst Interview---we meet!  You get to see where I work, travel time to get here, location.  I have a questionaire I usually fill out concerning your goals and wishes as a student.  You are also introduced to my expectations as a teacher.

2) Organization:  voice folder is explained, handouts concering warm-ups, practise expectations and tips.  A record book is provided to each new piano student.  Books are looked at,and selected according to the students interest and age/experience level.

3)  We begin with short list of songs, gradually increasing.

I have been a pianist since the age of 6-12 years instruction prior to college.  I graduated UNL School of Music with a Vocal Music Major K-12, and a Piano Minor.   I have taught privately for 38 years and performed/directed many productions, recitals, programs, and musicals.  I have a great deal of "onstage" experience as well as a singer/actress.  I take advantage of all continuing education opportunities, workshops, seminars, and conferences.

I teach standard lesson length of 30 min. per weekly scheduled lesson.  This monthly fee is $70 per month, payable in advance at first lesson of each month.  45 minute lessons are offered for an $85 fee.  Voice and piano may be combined in a 45 minute time slot.

I fell into it quite naturally as an at home job when my children were little.  I had just completed 10 years of public school teaching, ready to try something new (but musical!) and have more time at home with my family.

All types and all ages!

Attending the All School play on of my students wrote and directed.  It was outstanding!
