Music has been my passion ever since I was a ittle girl. As I have grown up, I have realized that the biggest joy I get from music is the smile that it puts on the faces of those around me. I love when someone discovers a new song or when they realize they can finally hit that note they've been practicing for weeks. There is something about music that is so powerful it cannot be explained in words.
My name is Taryn Anderson and I am a music teacher in New Hampshire. I currently teach grades 6-12, but I have worked with a variety of ages in the past. No one is too old or too young to learn about the wonders of their own voice. I have two degrees in music from the University of New Hampshire. I have a Bachelor's degree in music education and a Master's of Arts in Teaching with a specification in music. I have taught private voice lessons at both Spaulding High School in Rochester, NH and Pinkerton Academy in Derry, NH.
I have known that spending my life teaching music is what I am meant to do ever since 8th grade and I have worked very hard ever since to get to where I am today. I have experience in Jazz, Opera, Classical, Modern, and Musical Theater singing and am open to work on any singing styles and genres as long as it is healthy for the student. In my mind, there is nothing better than music and I hope you will join me for lessons so that you can discover what music means to you.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
The first lesson always is about learning about who the student is, what their experiences with singing are, what music they like, and what they might like to get out of singing lessons. It is totally understandable for a student to be nervous around a new teacher, so I think it is important to have an introduction lesson first so that they student can learn where their comfort level is. It is often the case that a student will become more confident over time. Once I know more about the student and what they like, I will develop a schedule for what type of music we should work on as well as providing vocal exercises the student should practice on their own.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My pricing rate is usually $20.00 per half an hour. This is actually a very low proce compared to other places in the area. I like keeping it at this price because I think learning music should be available to everyone. If this price is still too much due to difficult times, we can always work something out.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
With the ongoing pandemic that occured this year and last, I have learned a lot about how to create virtual events. I am a music teacher in Wilton, NH and this past school year I have put on two virtual concerts. I think that it is important that students be able to showcase their work so that they can have something to be proud of.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would say to see if you can meet with a teacher before actually beginning lessons. It is possible that one teacher might not be the right fit for you and your voice and it would be awful if a student became discouraged from music just because they did not have the proper teacher.
