About

All of our teachers are professional musicians. Staff are graduates from The Hartt School and Columbia Teachers College. With this combination, SI Music Lessons is unique. You will learn from a teacher with a true passion for music and creates an enjoyable, engaging & motiviating lesson. Our staff also works or has worked at: La Guardia High School, Staten Island Conservatory, City Music Schools, Music on the Move & Rustic Music.

Teaching one-on-one is a true challenge becasue the student can't and won't fall through the cracks like in a classroom. I greatly enjoy the quick thinking to get the proper results. I view my teaching more like an apprenticeship.

Alan gave me weekly French Horn lessons for a year. I hadnt played it since 1966 in high school. With Alans help, everything came back, reading music, the notes, the intonation. I was so proficient after a year that I was able to join the South Shore Band!
Heres a clip from my debut with the band at their Holiday Concert in 2015:

My son has been taking music lessons (guitar) from Alan-Artur Aurelia for the past 2 years. Alan is a great guy, fantastic teacher and mentor. He greatly inspired my sons passion for music. I highly recommend taking his classes.

Mr. Aurelia is an excellent teacher. He gives lessons in his home, which is very convenient for those of us on the North Shore. I find him to be a patient teacher who is both generous and kind in his comments and assessments of my progress. He also is quite astute in knowing when I am to be challenged, and has no difficulty making me accept the challenge. I have had other teachers in the past, and he is by far the best. Kudos for Alan-Arthur Aurelia, the best music teacher I have ever had!

Alan-Arthur Aurelia is an astounding teacher. I am an older student who has been taking piano lessons with him for over a year and have made great progress. He is patient, kind, and encouraging. I cannot praise him enough. I would recommend him to anyone wanting to learn music -- young or old.

Encouraging, enthusiastic, engaging, experienced, qualified, professional, creative. My son enjoys and looks forward to piano lessons with Alan. He gives instruction in a positive way that keeps my 7 year olds spirits high and makes my heart happy. He is giving him great experiences with making music. I was unhappy with several other piano teachers before I was lucky enough to find Alan.
