About
I am a teacher and performer who has experience singing genres including: Musical Theatre, Jazz, Pop, Contemporary Christian, Classical and Gospel. I have experience in music directing for theatre shows and I have also taught music in a private elementary school. I teach introductory music theory and ear training, beginner piano lessons, foundational singing technique, body awareness, acting through song, and the understanding of basic anatomical functions when it comes to the voice. I want you to learn how to be confident in yourself and in your voice.
I love teaching because I love the look on my students' face when they just had a breakthough! I have been in lessons for the past 17 years and I am still learning too, so I get it. I love to influence people to love themselves and to also realize how special their voices are!

Candidate of Master of Music in Vocal Pedagogy (CCM) at Shenandoah University in Winchester, Virginia

How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching out of my home and then I started to teach in music studios in NJ. Then I got a job at a private elementary school and taught kids from age K-3.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with all age ranges and abilities.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure that the teacher has an understanding of the vocal mechanism as a whole. It is SO important as musicians to understand your instrument. I like to compare it to a violinist. A violinist will understand what makes up a violin, how it was created, and what needs to happen in order for that instrument to function. We as singers need to understand our voices just like any other instrumentalist! Let's start taking care of our voices!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What do you want to learn? What genre do you like? Are you feeling any pain or fatigue when singing? Think through why you want lessons and then talk with your teacher about them! They want to help you.
