What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When working with a new student, it is important for me to start from the bottom up. Before working on any music, I believe a great approach is to make sure each student is familiar with reading sheet music.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am currently Choir Assistant at my University which gives me the opportunity to continue expanding my skills and have studied piano for 5 years. In addition to that, I have tutored many of my classmates in piano, and they all excel!
How did you get started teaching?
While tutoring at school, I soon became more comfortable with teaching once I saw the progress in those I was helping.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Students should be aware of what they are looking to get out of a piano lesson to benefit the most!
