About
I have a unique skillset as a teacher and a performer. My lessons are fun, instruction is clear and time is efficiently used. I'm able to really listen to my students, break down complex ideas and many are suprised by the end of the lessons, how much they accomplished! I've been teaching for over 20 years and have studied with some of the greatest artists in the theatre as well as Swing and Blues dance. It is a pleasure to teach each person!
I believe dance and acting lessons are more than just getting better at something, it's about challenging yourself, discovering new things about yourself and the relationships around you. I love being a part of each person's personal journey and transformation. When they feel like they tackled the impossible, it's the best feeling for me as a teacher!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
In the first lesson, I listen to what the student would like to work on and then begin to plot out what we can do together in a single session or over the arc of many sessions. I have a very transparent teaching model, so the student always knows what the goals are and knows where they are in the process. The first session is really about listening to their needs, their preferences and making sure they feel fufilled and that progress build confidence!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
As an acting coach, my training is as a director and actor. I got my Masters in Directing from Columbia University, and have studied under legends like Anne Bogart, David Henry Hwang, Andrei Serban, Ron Van Lieu, Marshall W Mason, etc. I have a lot of scenework, monologue work, classical and physical theatre training as an actor, as I got my undergraduate degree in Acting. Lastly, I think my background as an academic teacher has really helped me to teach effectively and clearly.
As a dance teacher, my training comes from 20+ years of experience as a competitive dancer in Swing and Blues dancing. I have competed and toured workshops in the US and Asia, and love teaching partner dancing! I have studied under numerous national champions, which I would be happy to provide references upon request!
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Pricing system depends on the individual needs of the student.
How did you get started teaching?
I was an English teacher during the day and a performer in my free time. Eventually, I earned enough credit in my field to have these professions merge and now I have the pleasure of coaching acting and teaching dance!
What types of students have you worked with?
I've worked with undergraduate students, adults, ESL speakers, etc.
