About

Professional Dancer and Actor / Focuses on Honing a Healthy, Expressive Instrument / Artistic and Technical Mastery / All Ages

Originally from Seattle, WA, Gwynedd is the daughter of two professional actors, and she developed a love of theatre and storytelling at her actor/director mother’s side. By the age of 13, she discovered she also loved ballet—dancing fulfilled her lifelong dream of flight.

In 2009-10, Gwynedd began her performing career in the second company of Tulsa Ballet, performing in "The Sleeping Beauty" and Ben Stevenson’s "Dracula"; that same year she was recognized by the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts’ YoungARTS program for achievement in ballet. The following year, she moved to New York City to dance under the direction of Gelsey Kirkland, performing the role of Marie/Sugar Plum Fairy in "The Nutcracker" at the Gerald W. Lynch Theater.

In 2013, Gwynedd founded Moving for Monarchs, a performance and film project for monarch butterfly conservation for which she was invited to create a TED Talk (TEDx PlazaMelchorOcampo, Performance: "La Danza de la Vida") and choreographed and performed a longer form movement theatre show, "The Dance of Life," for the New York International Fringe Festival 2016.

Gwynedd’s most recent projects span the worlds of dance, musical theatre, and plays, from Sugar Plum Fairy in "DIY Nutcracker" (a new take on the classic ballet), to the title role of Evangeline in the new musical "Evangeline, A Curious Journey," to Molly Aster in Cider Mill Playhouse’s production of "Peter and the Starcatcher."

When she is not performing, you can find Gwynedd working as a teaching artist in NYC and at local area studios as an instructor for Liberate Artists.

As both an artist and teacher, Gwynedd is dedicated to the transformative process of storytelling; she welcomes each new project and teaching experience as an opportunity to more deeply understand and uplift the human spirit. When teaching, she is passionate about helping students achieve technical mastery and artistic freedom. Gwynedd helps students find the courage to set goals, take risks, and rise to their highest level of personal achievement.
