I incorporate 30+ years of musical teaching experience, 40+ years of musical performance experience into helping my students to achieve their musical goals . I have a deep passion about my students fulfilling their dreams.
My qualifications are as follows :
Associate Degree in Music Education, Bachelors Degree in Musical Performance and a Certification as a Vocal Music Instructor.
40+ years experience as a Drummer/ Percussionist
40+ years experience as a vocalist
30+ years experience as a church musician and vocalist
20+ years experience as a Music Director
I have recorded and performed with major Gospel and R & B artists. I am the lead singer for my Gospel band "Higher Ground" and classic R&B band "Blue Magic".
I am currently the Music Director and pianist at a local church in Union, NJ. and on staff at 2 other local churches .
My enjoyment comes from being able to do what I love and assisting others in fulfilling their goals reaching their potential and living their dream as a musical artist .

Assignment of practical exercises and or rudiments according to skill level
Weekly review of previous assignments and provide instruction in proper technique for skill building

Children: $25 hr.
Adults: $40 hr.
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching in 1980 . My vocal teacher Dorothy Gowdy gave me my first opportunity as a music teacher through her company Gift of Mobile Music. I taught drums to inner city children in the Newark area.
What types of students have you worked with?
Inner city children, adults , choir members, beginners, intermediate and advanced students.
I have also taught and coached semi and professional musicians .
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I am very fond of returning to my alma mater and performing there with my band .
I am also fond of performing at my high school reunion recently.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure that the instructor you choose is not just qualified on paper to teach you but they must have a passion to coach you which involves them pouring their life experiences into you.

Am I willing to invest the time and energy in my gift?
