Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Our instructors begin instruction from day 1. While evaluating each swimmer's individual needs, we also like to build on their strengths and interests. We will have a discussion with the swimmers and their families about goals for the student as well as how the swimmer learns best.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Our instructors all have numerous years of experience (3-9 years range). Many have obtained their Water Safety Instructor (WSI) Certifications and are valid. They have taught aquatics in group settings as well as the private setting.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
A private, one-on-one lesson is $35 for a half hour session.
A semi-private, two students to one isntructor, is $54 ($27 per student) for a half hour session. *Contact us for details
A group lesson, three to five students, will be $65+ ($22+ per student) for a half hour session. *Contact us for details
How did you get started teaching?
Our instructors started teaching several years ago in the group setting. From the high-success rate of our students, our company has expanded significantly. Many parents from group classes have decided to invest in private or semi-private lessons with our instructors. Owner David Eggert is currently in college studying to become a teacher.
What types of students have you worked with?
Our instrucotrs have worked with a variety of studetns, including, but not limited to:
-Parent & Child Aquatics (minimum age 6 months)
-Preschool students who have no water experience
-Adults who would like to learn how to swim
-Special Olympics Athletes (swimmers have received gold metals in their events)
-Swim team members
-Students looking to improve their swimming skills
-Water safety courses for parents and children
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
There was one swimmer who had never been in the pool before. With private, one-on-one swim lessons, this student joined a swim team after 7 weeks of swim lessons, swimming 25 meters and competing with swimmers in the local area. We have had adults who have never been passed where they can reach to now swimming laps! Many of our students have joined swim team, placed and recieved certifications for their achievements.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Contact the instructor directly. Be sure to discuss what the swimmer is interested in and do not be afraid to ask them questions about their teaching practices. Be sure to ask if they hold any swim instructor certifications and ask for a plan of action for the swimmer.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
-Why do I want to learn how to swim?
-Is my aquatics instructor approachable and willing to help me?
-Does my swim instructor take time to get to know me on a personal level?
-How will my swim instructor help me reach my swimming goals?
