I teach Suzuki and Traditional Violin and Viola lessons. I personalize my method for each indiviual student. Starting to read music as soon as the student is reading words in school, is a very imprtant skill to start as soon as possible.
I have a Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance from the Eastman School of Music, and a Master of Arts in Violin Performance from the Cleveland Institite of Music and Kent State University.
Living in Lexington, MA for 38 years, I had thriving Home Studio with over 30 students. Moving to Las Vegas in 2019, I have established another Violin/Viola Studio in my home. I offer two recitals a year, and group lessons when appropriate.
I love the excitement students have when a skill is achieved. Teaching the love of music is my basic goal.

We have put both of our daughters into Helenes classes, and feel she has been a gift to their childhood. Helene might well be the kindest, most patient teacher I have ever seen -- inside any class environment, anywhere. Also: I could listen to her play endlessly. Her sound and passion for the instrument make each time she picks up the violin, it is like listening to a concert-hall-worthy performance (even when it is just Twinkle Twinkle Little Star!) Could not recommend her more highly -- she will be a wonderful force of good in your childs life.

Mrs. Kamen is a fabulous violin teacher! With warmth, kindness and patience she inspires each of her students to enjoy learning and playing music. My daughter took lessons with her for 12 years and loved every minute. Mrs Kamen’s gentle encouragement and professional guidance helped my daughter excel in violin and I know that she will continue to enjoy a lifelong love of music. Helene is the best violin teacher my son has ever had! Helene is an expert violinist who has the patience and knowledge to individually tailor lessons to children. She has just the right combination in her lessons. Helene taught my son classical Suzuki songs, how to read music, and fiddle songs to keep it fun. My son also really enjoyed her group lessons. Helene is one of the rare violin teachers in the US that has this approach with violin and I think it works amazingly!

Helene is one of the most gentle and kind people I know and this showed in her teaching. She created a very nurturing and positive learning environment for her students. Ms. Helene is a kind, talented instructor. She applies her decades of experience as a violinist & violist with great patience; when playing with Ms. Helene, her love of music is apparent and infectious (her favorite composer is Brahms). She was always happy to assist me in practicing for my school orchestra, but made sure to push me with challenging pieces. Having moved out of Vegas, I greatly miss playing and talking too Ms. Helene, but invite others to benefit from her expertise.

My 12-year old son has been a student of Helene’s for five years. She is incredibly patient and takes time to ensure he plays a piece well before moving to the next one. What I love most about Helene is how caring she is. She motivates Coleman to continue playing violin. I believe that if we hadn’t found a teacher like Helene, he likely wouldn’t want to continue to play.
