Reviews for Brooklyn accompaniment lessons

Recent success stories from people in the Brooklyn area.

I took lessons from Ben for about a year and he's a really nice guy. He taught me the strategies for walking and soloing and how to find my musical voice. He had his own agenda prepared for me but also asked me often if I had any other songs that I wanted to learn or analyze. His criticism was constructive and he's good at not making me feel too bad about screwing up. Peace n love

Being a successful drummer is about having good time and good relationships. Shannon excels at both. He explains what tools you need to sound professional, while modeling what a “good hang” is in the music scene. Shannon finds the perfect balance of explanation and demonstration. He targets the smaller areas of musicality that can elevate a drummer from a 6 to a 10. Broadway drummers need to play in multiple genres. I have sat with Shannon and experienced his effortless shifts from rock to swing to pop. As a teacher, he perfectly communicates the idiosyncrasies of each style. He's a great teacher: encouraging, but also knows when and how to critique and not discourage a beginner. Makes sure it is challenging, but not overwhelming. Encyclopedic knowledge of jazz and music theory. Definitely recommend!

As a theory teacher, Patrick Kreeger possesses the exact teaching style the subject requires. Patience, availability for questions and dedication to my desire to learn best define my experience with Patrick. It was such dedication that also made him call me out when he didn’t think I was doing my best or was making careless mistakes. Perhaps this wouldn’t be that outstanding except that Patrick did all of this long distance; he was in Philadelphia and I was in Delaware. He was timely in mailing me assignments and tests, and even more so in grading and returning them. I learned more from him in the 2 years I studied with him than I did in my last year of theory in my undergrad at music school. If you have the opportunity to study with Patrick Kreeger, consider yourself lucky. You couldn’t find better quality teaching elsewhere.”

If you're interested in it, he's very good with theory, which will help you become a musician, not just learn chords, etc. by rote. I think this really sets him apart. He is also very patient.

I participated in Peter Mark's masterclasses, and he is a real professional who cares about his students. No matter what level of voice you have, or where you are currently in your training, he will help to get the best out of you. He has great intuition about how to handle singers and really gives 100% of his energy in coaching. I greatly appreciate him working with me and consider it a great honor to have been allowed to participate in these classes.

Nava was a true gem for our daughter when she started taking piano lessons at age 6. Nava always showed great patience in working with our daughter, especially after we went to online classes during the pandemic. But most importantly, she made piano fun and nurtured our daughter’s natural instincts and joy for music and learning. To help with online learning, Nava often sent video recordings of new songs, which our daughter loved and exemplified for us the care and attentiveness she shows her students.
