My teaching approach: i play and teach jazz, rock, blues and r&b styles on electric and upright bass. i also teach reading, music theory and technique. (I'm the author of "Developing Reading Skills for the Contemporary Bass Guitarist".) I teach at the bass collective and in my Brooklyn Heights apartment My influences are: the usual suspects. My bass lessons take place in: The teacher's studio or the student's home Guitar Techniques: Scales and Exercises, Music Theory, Reading Music, Jamming Skills, Performance. I love to help students find and refine their musical voice....

I tailor my lessons to every students specific goals. I understand that not every student is looking to become a virtuoso, and so I may focus the lessons for those students more towards the specific goals of the student, with some relevant music theory sprinkled in if it seems appropriate. On the flip side, I will throw everything a student can handle at them, if they intend kn going as far as possible with their lessons, but I'll do it in a way that is manageable, and most of all, fun. Regardless of a student's particular goals, I always make it a point to ask for favorite songs and artists, and build a specific lesson plan with that info
