Irina is a very skilled pianist and teacher. She listens to her students and tries to tailor their lessons to fit their needs. She helps keep them well-focused and motivated. She is always flexible with scheduling, accommodating vacations and other interruptions by seeking alternate dates and times for lessons when needed. She’s a very nice person who seems to genuinely love teaching. Our son has progressed very quickly under her tutelage and greatly enjoys having her as his teacher.

    Frequently asked questions

When I hire a new student, first I meet them and family. I need to test the prospective student’s  natural musical ability, and evaluate their level ( beginner, intermediate, advanced). If they have taking piano lessons before, I might ask them to play something and talk to them to find out whether they like playing piano. If it a complete beginner, then I pay a lot of attention to a proper positioning of the hands on the keyboard, proper use of fingering and just try to make music interesting for the child in general.

I started studying and playing piano at 6 years old, and finish general music school corse for 8 years, then I entered specialized music college for 4 years, and after elite music academy for 5 more years, where I was studying piano, musicology and pegagogy and was specifically trained to perform on stage, write about music, and teach students .
Pricing is based generally on the neighborhood and income statistics of the neighborhood, but then individually tailored to each student/family. Music education must be accessible to everyone, but it involves costs, such as buying, upkeeping and tuning instruments ( and quality pianos are expensive!), rentals for music spaces , educational materials and teacher’s time .
I wanted to use my talents to gain financial stability and independence, and music is not an easy way to do so, but it’s possible!
I worked with students of various ages, musical ability and level ( from beginner to intermediate and advanced), I have very young beginners and 15-16 year old level 8 students, preparing to enter music college. I prepared students for the ABRSM exams evaluations. I also worked with mature adults, that wanted to study music and musical instrument. But I mostly work with children band very young adults.
My students playing and performing on stage. Some went to perform in Manhattan Steinway Hall, also one of my student’s passed the ABRSM music exams with distinction, which is the highest award giving for this exam.
Students should stay loyal to their teacher, it’s very hard to start a beginner and students should show respect and appreciation of their instructor’s work by being loyal to them. Also there is no instant gratification in this field and you should keep it in mind, everything comes with effort and hard work! Take lessons for a long time and consistently, practice, practice, practice, develop your technical ability, be curious about other things , such as composers and their works , music history and styles, educate yourself. Also, there are teachers, that have slightly different specialty, you can always do your research before hiring.
Students always should deliver their concerns and questions to their instructor and ask for guidance and professional advice, but with respect for teacher’s time and availability.
