About
I specialize in contemporary music. If there is a style that you want to sing, I will set you on the fast track to singing that style as soon as possible. Technique is important, but when I was a child taking voice lessons, I felt like I wasn't being engaged or encouraged to follow my own style. That's what I love developing with my students whether they are songwriters or just singers: an authentic sound.
I adore the mutual exchange of love for music that I get to experience with my students. When I stick to my philosophy of paying attention to the student's interest and sound and use that as the building blocks for my session, there is a noticable excitement that I see in their demeanor. That is why I do what I do.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
My first thing I do is ask my students to write a list of 10 songs that they want to cover or just love listening to
What this does is tell me about their taste. My goal as a teacher is to encourage students to learn how to articulate why they love what they listen to, so they can then apply it to their own music.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelor of Music in Studio Composition from SUNY Purchase, which is just fancy talk for a Songwriting degree. I have performed as a freelance musician since I was in high school, been a singer my entire life, and have a combined 21 years of experience in playing the guitar, piano, and ukulele.
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching young kids when I was wanting to make some extra cash in high school. Then as I developed a passion for performing and writing I found some older students that wanted to learn the same, and really learned how to hone my skills for teaching stage presence, writing, song choice, and musical authenticity.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have taught student ranging from 6 to 17 years old, and with musical experiences ranging from none to to advanced.
