About
My name is Shavit Prince. I am a musician, composer, singer, graduated from The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music in NY.
I started teaching music- voice, reading (solfage), ear-training and the Connection between a song and the singer, when I was 16. I was working in a conservatory and every year or every few month, I had a group of young girls (years 11-18). They came to class together or alone and we worked on what they needed at the time. A few needed help of how to reach a song and how to connect to it, some of them didn't know how to read music notes and needed me to work with them on the music background, some of them wanted to work on a song they learnd in school. I worked with students in every kind of levels they needed.
My students always told me that I have a lot of patience, that I am very clear with my explanations and that they could tell that I love to teach and share music information.
As a musician, I love working and creating together with other musicians. When I'm perfprming I love to participate in big productions and work with ensembles too. I like to work together with others, meet new people and learn about new cultures. As a teacher, I got the chance to work mostly with young female singers and helped them to boost their self-esteem on and off the stage. I think that when you work together with someone that gives you the courage to move forward, you can get much more from yourself.
Having a teacher that listen to you, understands you and helps you is very important. Especially when you are young. music can help us develop ourselves more then we know and if we have a good teacher, we can even earn much more.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Go with a teacher that can help you in the area you need. Make sure you know 100% what subject do you want to focus on.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Ask yourself: what do you want to study? Being specific is the best way to learn when you first meet a new teacher. After you covered what you wanted to study and you want to do something new with the same teacher, you can go to other directions.
If you need more ear-traning background, look for a teacher that can teach you that in the best way for you. If you want to learn basic voice technique, find a teacher than can help you in the best way.
