About
I love to teach and is very passionate in my work to help people get better at singing! My strengths in teaching lies in finding out what each student needs to improve and in creative and fun ways help them get there. I have studied many genres Jazz, classical, pop, soul, classical, musical theatre and gospel so I have a broad knowledge of diffferent voices and vocal needs a student might have. I strive to make each lesson fun and interesting and as I get to know the students better we can find out together how they learn best and what they love about singing. I have taught kids, adults, recording artists, professional singers and those who have Never taken a tone in their life. Inspirational lessons make a student want to practice to get better, that is really important to become a better singer!

I love having different students with different gifts and challenges. I like to find both the good and bad in a student and bring out more of the good and Deal with the challenges full on. The best thing with being a teacher is your opportunity to inspire students and gently push them to learn new songs, sing a little louder, a little higher, hold a note a little longer with a little more feeling. It's great to see improvement in students and help them find "their voice"

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First I do an assessment of where they are when it comes to technique, range, rhythm, articulation, where they place their tone (resonance) and the quality of the tone. When I have heard what they do in each of the excercises I have a pretty good idea of what they need. Then we talk about what they consider to be they strong points and weaker points and how they would like to improve. We also talk about what kind of music they are into and I ask the student to sing me a song of their liking. In the Lessons to come I incorporate what they want to sing with songs that I pick based on what they need to sing to improve, and we do a bit of both. But this is my process for working with a new student.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have sung since I was 5 years old. I grew up playing piano, clarinet, viola and I sang in multible choirs. I attended High School for Music in Sweden, then I attended Junior College School for Music voice and viola. I have sung musicals, classical, gospel, pop, folk music, Funk, Soul, South African Music and Jazz and have been in countless bands, groups and big bands. I studied classical music in Los Angeles and then transfered to New School University for Jazz and Contemporary Music in Manhattan. I graduated with Bachelor of Fine Arts in Jazz Vocal Performance in 2011. Since then I have had my own quartet where I have been the leader and I have written songs and recorded music with this band, I have experience in many fields. But my history and knowledge of Music is not as important as the experience I have in teaching. You can be a great Musician/Artist but you don´t know how to teach.
My mother was a top notch high school teacher, she was loved and taught the toughest of students. She has taught me a lot about the psychology behind teaching, that if the student is not learning from you it´s never their fault, it´s yours, and you need to change your approach and try new ways to teach so that your student not only learns but that they have fun doing it.
