Chris Taber Music Lessons
About
Ever since starting piano lessons at the age of 10, I knew that music was more than just a hobby for me. Currently at the age of 24, I have graduated from Buffalo State College in 2019 with my primary instrument being voice, but have continued to play the piano ever since I was a child. At Buffalo State College I played the role of Aeneus in the college's first opera in 2019. I accompany and sing at a church in my hometown of Albion every Sunday since 2016 and teach piano and voice lessons at Pro Music Center in Williamsville since 2018. I have worked with all ages and am quite flexible in my available hours. I have two keyboards at my home and a room dedicated to teaching lessons and I have a lot of motivation to grow my at home studio. I also teach at a Pro Music Studio in Williamsville so if you are closer to that area we are always looking for more students there as we have other teachers that teach a variety of instruments as well.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
For the first time with a student, I like to have a pretty relaxed first lesson, figuring out their experience, their interests and any knowledge of music they have prior to the lesson. For beginner piano students, I teach the very basics and work through a primer level book until the student is ready to get their own books to practice at home and with non-beginners, I like to listen to anything they have played or can play and move on from there. Typically with singing lessons I like to start with figuring out the vocal range of the student and discussing proper techniques to get started with singing properly. I will usually have the student sing a song they are familiar with as well.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I would charge 100 dollars per month but with these difficult times I could be a little bit more flexible.
How did you get started teaching?
While I was in college, I had many opportunities to teach in a classroom setting whether it was a summer camp or Bump, the college's weekend music program for younger kids and children. I loved accompanying singers on a piano and I knew that teaching lessons one-on-one was something I really wanted to do instead of in a big group classroom setting because it was more manageable for me. I then got hired at a music studio and have loved it ever since.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with all ages thus far with the youngest being four and the oldest in their 70's. A lot of my students have been beginners but I also work with students that have had some music background and know a bit more than beginner levels.
