She provides great feedback after each lesson on what my son should work on and has made fun work suggestions that are increasing his practice time.

She works directly with my daughter and has really been wonderful in helping her get started as a musician. She includes me in suggesting things I can do to support my daughters goals. Would highly recommend Ms. Villa.

    Frequently asked questions

When working with a new student, I like to get to know them first - their taste in music, goals they'd like to achieve, and learning style. We talk about practicing for progress and NOT perfection.

I have had a private lesson studio since 2002 when I graduated from SUNY Fredonia with a BA in Music Education.

I charge $120/month for weekly 30-minute lessons. I ask for the month to be paid in advance at the beginning of the month via QuickBooks online.

I starting teaching when I was in high school and did an internship with a band director/mentor of mine. I loved it from day one! I could connect with my students very easily and help them progress at a good pace.

I have worked with students of all ages (5 and up), with all types of abilities.

I am very fond of the tiny house movement. I believe that these are excellent for people who want to "live tiny", but also for those who have financial hardships and need a home. I've always dreamed of helping such individuals.

If a student were looking for a private music lesson teacher, my biggest piece of advice would be to set themselves up for success. In order to do this, they should get to know the prospective instructor, reflect upon what they'd like to achieve, and set aside time in which they can practice for progress.

Before talking to teachers about their needs, students should ask themselves questions such as, "Why do I want to take lessons?", "What outcome am I seeking?", "What is my learning style?", and "What type of teacher would I match best with?"
