Chatalbash Lessons
About
My lessons are completely unique to anyone else on Long Island. My lab lesson program focuses on independence and reading music quickly. It's a hybrid program of getting individual teaching and private practice time without me hovering over you waiting for you to get it right. My students are reading music at the very first lesson and are playing songs they live within 3 months. Whatever your musical goal is, I will help you reach it and have a great time doing it. Lesson plans and techniques will be specifically catered to each student and how he/she learns best. Lessons will be laid back, yet challenging. I love to kid around, but I'm serious about making progress. I am a firm believer in playing what YOU want to play. I'm a patient person and I know how to work with various learning styles. I teach all genres!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
At the first intro lesson, we'll chat and get to know each other. I'll ask you what your goals and interests are and you can ask me any questions you may have. We'll go over my studio policies quickly and then I'll gave you an intro into reading music! It's a no pressure kind of thing so we can see if we're a good fit.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been playing piano for 26 years and I went to music school for piano at The Crane School of Music. I also began music theory and composition lessons when I was 8 and have won numerous competitions. I have performed and taught for each level of NYSSMA and have taught for 15 years. I am highly proficient in music theory, accompaniment, sight reading, and arranging. I can teach all genres!
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Lab Lesson Program is 60 min lessons once a week, which is twice the amount of time you'd get as a beginner anywhere else, especially for children. That means twice the amount of progress. Lesson tuition is billed monthly at $249/month and an intro lesson with me is only $29 for 30 minutes.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with children as young as 7 and adults up to age 70 in all levels. Beginner through advanced pianist, I can teach it all!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Do not take lessons from someone who plays piano as a hobby or who is not an advanced pianist. You will eventually surpass the ability level of your teacher and will have to find a new one. You always want to have a teacher who is more advanced than you who isn't learning how to read music alongside you. I cannot stress that enough.
