Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Each student is taught the Yang-style short form, from the start. There is a balanced focus on specific movements along with feeling connection and allowing energy flow.
I have two assistant instructors, but I also work with all beginners for a significant part of each hour-long class. Together, we can help both the advanced students and the new students.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Many years of meditation, and Tai Chi Chuan study with two leading teachers since 1978. I am also a licensed psychotherapist, which helps with overall awareness of other people and what would be helpful for them.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

Group classes are a good starting place for many people.
Organizational work can be discussed to meet the needs of your organization, and can be combined with engagement on topics of communication and well-being, for a better workplace.
For private Tai Chi Chuan lessons, the offering can be varied. Fee depends on location and should be discussed.
How did you get started teaching?
William Chen encouraged me to teach after I had been practicing for years. I have enjoyed sharing the principles of Tai Chi Chuan with others since 1995.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Here is a recent statement a student shared with me: "Having this Sunday class makes my Monday mornings feel much better. I am less tense."
There are many such experiences among the students.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Try out a class, and see how you feel and whether the hour may be leading toward your goals. Comfort with the teaching approach, the classroom environment, and of course your response to Tai Chi Chuan practice, are all important.
