About
Entering into our 15th year, OFC Creations (Opportunities For Creativity) continues to enhance the arts throughout the Rochester area for all ages. Through shows, unique events, and educational classes - OFC is committed to giving back to our next generation. In summer 2020, OFC opened a brand new theatre in Brighton, the OFC Creations Theatre Center.
OFC Creations was founded in 2005 by Eric Vaughn Johnson to give community artists an opportunity to push their creative limits. Original OFC artists dabbled in claymation, videography, and music videos. As the group grew, OFC Creations became a formal organization with support from the Rochester community. The group produced live musical theatre productions at Nazareth College, The Rochester Museum and Science Center, Visual Studies Workshop, School of the Arts, The East End Theatre, The Kodak Center, The Century Club, and The Lyric Theatre.
OFC quickly expanded as local elementary schools reached out looking for OFC to run school drama programs. Over time, the school programs expanded with February break and spring break camps, evening classes and lessons, professional workshops, and summer camp program. OFC's educational programs grew alongside our professional adult productions, featuring many of the same teaching artists who work daily with our students.
Today OFC Creations continues supporting the community through partnerships and creative show selections in the Rochester area. OFC offers after school and evening arts programming to private and public schools, opening opportunities to new directors in the Rochester community, touring theatre productions, and performing arts classes. Additionally, OFC partners with the LGBT community each year to present a LGBT+ Show Series, many of the performances benefit organizations like Broadway Cares / Equity Fights AIDS. In the summer months, OFC runs the largest theatre summer camp program in Upstate New York: ROC Summer Theatre Experience.
The new OFC Creations Theatre Center (3450 Winton Pl, Rochester, NY 14623), opened in July 2020, is a multi-purpose arts center focused on youth theater education and performances, mounting professional plays and musicals, hosting community events, presenting out-of-town entertainers, and providing much-needed performance space to local arts groups. The center offers classes in acting, singing, and dancing; school field trips and tours; community events; and theater camps during summer and school.
The theatre has seating for 260, with newly installed and raked theater seats, plus new stage curtains and drapes and a re-designed lobby for community receptions and events. The center is air conditioned, ADA accessible, and has parking for 750 vehicles.
