About this pro

Welcome to Francesca Simon Piano Studio! Here you will learn to do more than just press keys and make simple music. You will learn to artfully play classics and intricate works, and develop your own style that will distinguish you from others. Lessons are not only meant to enrich you but stretch you to new limits. Whether you are looking to become a concert pianist, an accompanist for vocalists or musicians, or just develop new skills, I am here for you. I offer in person lessons at my studio, or virtual through Skype. 30 minutes lessons are $32 and 60-minutes is $60. Please serious inquiries only! It costs money to respond to requests and then to be "ghosted". We are not all wealthy and can afford to pay for all these "ghost" requests. Be courteous and understanding. Thank you

If interested, jot me a comment. I respond pretty quickly. Thank you and hear from you soon!

Also, I would appreciate it if you decline my quote to please let me know. It’s just a courtesy request. Thanks a lot!!

I love engaging with the student and seeing them progress from beginners to advanced. Although my main goal is to teach classical piano, I love to explore many different musical styles as well. I will include some Latin music, jazz and Broadway pieces arranged for piano.

Francesca is very patient and an excellent instructor. She relays the knowledge in a way that one can understand. She also can recommend resources that aid in the learning adventure.

Francesca is an incredibly gifted teacher. Her knowledge of the instrument of piano is vast on many levels but beyond that she exhibits great patience and sensitivity with her students. I am at age 70 no doubt one of her oldest students but she makes me feel young & I look forward to our lessons each week! I am somewhat limited because I had a serious accident a few years ago & several major surgeries that affected my cognitive functioning. Although I studied piano previously after my surgeries I could not coordinate my left and right hands. Whole sections of my memory are also wiped out from so much anesthesia. There are days when I just freeze up and get very nervous yet Francesca is always patient and kind with me. I am extremely grateful to have her as a teacher and I would happily recommend her to anyone.

FAQs

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

From the first lesson the student is introduced to the proper hand-finger techniques with progressive five finger exercises and pieces. Gradually moving from primer books to elementary, where we will dive into more diverse repertoire from all musical eras and styles. Transitioning from elementary to advanced will be smooth and engaging. The goal is to develop musicianship and performance

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I began lessons in 1991 in Sicily under the tutelage of Ms Marika Torchio learning the proper hand-arm-finger technique, hand articulation, phrasing, and performance. In 1995, moved to New York continued lessons with a Crane School of Music graduate and performed at various events throughout Long Island. I also attended Suffolk Community College in Selden NY minoring in Music Performance, graduated in 2009. In 2014 I began teaching in Ronkonkoma NY both privately and in a studio preparing many students of all ages for recitals.

I am now a member of the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto Canada, the Music Teacher National Association and a Certified teacher for the Wayland Baptist University in Plainview Texas.

How did you get started teaching?

A friend referred me to a local business that was hiring in the vicinity and was hired on the spot. After the first lesson I was hooked!! I love teaching piano and hearing my students progress into wonderful mature pianists. It is a blessed journey!!

What types of students have you worked with?

I have enjoyed teaching students coming from all walks of life. Adult students, toddlers, autistic, beginners and experienced! I love them all!

Describe a recent event you are fond of.

I love hosting virtual recitals, they are so much fun. The students love to dress up and play their hearts out for others to enjoy!
