I have my Bachelors and Masters Degrees from Boston Conservatory in Vocal Performance. I have been performing and teaching voice and piano lessons in the Capital District for more than 30 years. I teach students of all ages. I have my own studio located in Niskayuna, NY, and I also teach at The Magic of Music Studio in Delmar, NY, two days a week. My Niskayuna studio is handicap accessible and I have many years of experience working with children and adults who have Epilepsy Or Developmental Disabilities.
I believe that lessons of any kind require an element of fun to keep the student’s interest. If a student is bored, they won’t want to continue or practice. I encourage my students to include songs that they enjoy as part of the lesson.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First, I listen to the student perform, test the student's vocal range and give them an honest assessment of their strengths and weaknesses in singing. Then we talk about strategies that can help bring out the best in their voice. Breathing is the first technique I teach and each student leaves my studio with a good understanding of how to practice proper breathing in preparation for our next lesson!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My degrees are in vocal performance, with a minor in voice therapy. I have been a singer of multiple genres of music for decades and have first hand knowlege of performing in various bands, throughout the world. I was on the road as a musician for 10 years during and after college. I have been teaching Voice, Piano, and Performance classes for over 25 yrs. My training is classical, and my students perform, Classical, Opera, Jazz, Pop, Latin, R&B, Broadway, etc.
