My experience working with Lana over the past three years has been so incredibly positive -- its hard to know where to begin! Lana is such a tremendously dedicated and gifted flute teacher who has helped me overcome long standing beliefs about my limitations as a flautist, and to play with ever greater musicality, confidence, and joy.
One of Lana’s superpowers is her ability to quickly diagnose problem areas and recommend a variety of solutions that are always spot-on. But her talents as a teacher and coach extend so much further: For example, by guiding me through a comprehensive course of study that has included everything from discussions about breath, posture, and balance—to intensive analysis of and work on some of the most beautiful pieces in the flute literature—Lana has helped me to progress more in my playing than I had ever thought possible. And Lana’s warm, collaborative and supportive teaching style always motivates me to work hard so that I can continue to improve both technically and artistically.
My decision to invest in flute lessons with Lana is one of the best I’ve ever made, and my experience as her student continues to exceed my every expectation. I highly recommend Lana to any prospective flute student, of any age or ability!

Lanas approach brought me to a new level
of understanding not only the technical
aspects of the flute, but the awareness and
enjoyment of expression to its fullest while
engaged in lessons and practice at home.
    Totally accomplished and professional,
Lana teaches in a way that inspires me to
grow as a flute player and musician.

    Frequently asked questions

Starting with evaluating goals and playing levels, we then move into establishing a natural sound, ease in moving between notes, and bringing attention to creating music. We set up a practice routine that we adjust as the student makes progress.

I earned my Bachelor's and Master's in Flute Performance during which time I was also the Flute Teaching Assistant.
