Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
My methodology includes a customized lesson plan for the online learner that will be geared towards your musical goals. Educational content will be available through my online classroom for download. Assignments will be given in accordance with your development in the form of video and/or audio files when necessary. Virtual concerts /recitals are available for students who reach a particular level.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I studied Music and Theater at Montclair State University earning a BA degree along with a teaching license in performing arts. Currently, I'm continuing my music education at the renowned Berklee College of Music.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Private lessons begin at $38 a/half hour.
How did you get started teaching?
I have always had a passion for teaching, at an early age I started covering classes for other teachers and realized this was something I wanted to as a career.
What types of students have you worked with?
I work with total beginners. My student roster ranges from 3 years old to over 70 years old. It doesn't matter the age as long as you're a beginner and eager to learn.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I have several events I am fond of, but I remember working as an international performer, touring throughout the country of China as a lead singer for the state of the arts Thai City Theater. This was one of my fondest memories. I also have worked as a lead production singer for the renowned cruise line, Carnival; sailing the Western and Eastern Caribbean islands performing Las Vegas-style production shows.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
My advice would be to follow your heart, you can always tell if you feel a connection with someone. Working creatively is not easy and it's important to work with someone who fully understands your musical needs and goals.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Always think about what you want to achieve artistically. Once you finalized your artistic goals then write down a list of questions for your prospective teachers.
