About

I have been teaching in general for a few years now. And four years ago I began teaching voice lessons on campus in Oxford. I graduated from Miami University with a bachelors in music with a focus on vocal and general music for all ages. I am now a licensed Kindermusik educator and also an in training Montessori educator. I love to work with kids but I have and will work with any age as long as they are eager to learn. I understand that everyone learns differently so I adapt my teaching style to fit each students learning needs. I'm also very good at helping with audition and performance prep, in past years assisting one of my students for an audition into the music program at Miami and they were successful! I want students to have fun while they learn! And I will never give up on any student!

I love watching students learn. My favorite thing is when it clicks for a student, that section of a song or a technique suddenly goes right and I can see they got it. I love seeing students create characters and have a musical outlet. Music can do so much for anyone and the voice is your own body's instrument, it is so much more personal and exciting to watch develop.

    Frequently asked questions

The first step to beginning voice lessons with any new student is to make that they are comfortable and feel they can relax singing in front of you.  I will stay encouraging and keep pressure low when starting off with a new student until they feel comfortable and know they are in a safe space.  They are in a lesson to learn, and when you're learning anything new you're going to make mistakes.  And that's okay!  I welcome mistakes, it means you have something you can learn about.

I have a diverse music and educatio background.  I am a graduate of Miami University with a bachelors in music with a focus on vocal and general music eduction for all ages.  I am also a licensed Kindermusik educator and an in training Montessori educator.   I have taken courses specifically for training singers as well as working with elementary through high school level students.  I am regularly teaching music classes and voice lessons.  I have worked with several ages and levels of students and all have seen great improvement over time.

I try to keep my prices fair, I know I am newer to voice teaching field compared to most.  I charge:

    ~ $25 for a 30 minute lesson. $10 for a 30 minute trial lesson
~ I also do 45 minute lessons or coachings for $35 (coaching's being preperation for a particular audition or performance where the student already has the music they need to perform)
    ~ $40 for a 60 minute lesson
    ~ $55 for a 90 minute lesson

I have actually been teaching since I was in middle school.  I started off as an assistant teacher at my local church's VBS and I did that for a few years into high school.  In high school I began teaching children's bible classes on my own.  And I eventually fell in love with teaching as much as singing so I am now a graduate of Miami University with a bachelors in music with a focus on vocal and general music for all ages. I am now a preschool assistant teacher and kindermusic teacher in a Montessori School.

I have worked with all ages.  I am currently a preschool music teacher and I over the last several years have worked with groups of students age 5 yr- 6th grade.  Through my music teaching courses at Miami University I have taught classes of middle schoolers and high schoolers.  For voice specifically I have worked with middle school age students through college age students and adults.

One exciting moment for me as a teacher was working with a student from two years ago to help them prepare for a voice audition for the music department at Miami University, and they were successful in being admitted!

You're allowed to be picky, you're training your own instrument. You should always feel comfortable and safe when with your teacher.  When learning voice, having someone who can teach the same concept as many ways as needed to get an idea across is important.  Everyone learns differently and a teacher needs to be adaptable to their students so they can be successful.

-Will it make lessons easier for me?

-If my teacher knows this will it better how they teach me?

-Will I feel more comfortable in my lessons if my teacher knows this about me?

Never be afraid to tell a teacher if you have an issue if it will influence your performance in a lesson.  Everyone has their own learning needs.
