About

I have been a voice teacher for about a decade now. I began teaching voice lessons while in college. I graduated from Miami University with a bachelors in music with a focus on vocal and general music for all ages. I am now a licensed Kindermusik educator and Montessori educator. I love to work with kids but I have and will work with any age as long as they are eager to learn. I understand that everyone learns differently so I adapt my teaching style to fit each students learning needs. I'm also very good at helping with audition and performance prep, in past years assisting one of my students for an audition into the music program at Miami and they were successful. I want students to have fun while they learn. And I will never give up on any student!

I love watching students learn. My favorite thing is when it clicks for a student, that section of a song or a technique suddenly goes right and I can see they got it. I love seeing students create characters and have a musical outlet. Music can do so much for anyone and the voice is your own body's instrument, it is so much more personal and exciting to watch develop.

    Frequently asked questions

The first step to beginning voice lessons with any new student is to make that they are comfortable and feel they can relax singing in front of you. I will stay encouraging and keep pressure low when starting off with a new student until they feel comfortable and know they are in a safe space. They are in a lesson to learn, and when you're learning anything new you're going to make mistakes. And that's okay! I welcome mistakes, it means you have something you can learn about.
I have a diverse music and education background. I am a graduate of Miami University with a bachelors in music with a focus on vocal and general music eduction for all ages. I am also a licensed Kindermusik educator and Montessori trained educator. I have taken courses specifically for training singers as well as working with elementary through high school level students. I regularly teaching music classes and voice lessons. I have worked with several ages and levels of students and am well trained to work with singers of any level.
I try to keep my prices fair, I want to offer lessons that are affordable and accessible to more students. My rates: $25 for a 30 minute lesson. $10 for a 30 minute trial lesson (only one trial lesson per student; cancelled or no show trial lessons will not be rescheduled, any further lessons will be at full price) $35 for a 45 minute lesson (this is also the recommended length if taking lessons specifically for audition prep to provide optimal performance preparedness) $45 for a 60 minute lesson $60 for a 90 minute lesson (recommended for professional students only)
I have actually been teaching since I was in middle school. I started off as an assistant teacher at my local church's VBS and I did that for a few years into high school. In high school I began teaching children's bible classes on my own. And I eventually fell in love with teaching as much as singing so I am now a graduate of Miami University with a bachelors in music with a focus on vocal and general music education for all ages.
I have experience working with students of all ages and levels of knowledge. I am currently an infant through preschool Kindermusik teacher. Over the last several years have worked with groups of students and individuals age 5 yr- 12th grade. Teaching voice specifically I have worked with young elementary age students through college age students as well as adults.
I recently participated in my first recital as a teacher. I was excited to see my students success and be able to have enough students to participate in a recital. It’s amazing to see what young students can accomplish when they are passionate and dedicated.
You're allowed to be picky, you're training your own instrument. You should always feel comfortable and safe when with your teacher. When learning voice, having someone who can teach the same concept as many ways as needed to get an idea across is important. Everyone learns differently and a teacher needs to be adaptable to their students so they can be successful. Be clear of your expectations and don’t be afraid to ask for what you need.
Will it make lessons easier for me? If my teacher knows this will it better how they teach me? Will I feel more comfortable in my lessons if my teacher knows this about me? Never be afraid to tell a teacher if you have an issue if it will influence your performance in a lesson. Everyone has their own learning needs, don’t be afraid to share them.
