I am currently a Graduate Assistant in pursue of my second Violin Performance Master's Degree at Kent State University, and a violin teacher at a private school in Akron. I have been playing violin for 20 years. I graduated from Violin Performance at the National University of Colombia. I have 10+ years of violin teaching experience and have worked with students of all ages, from four years old to seniors. I have also played in different orchestras and attended several music festivals in different countries. Violin is my life and my passion and I like to share it with my students so they can enjoy playing as well.
When I teach my goal is to show my students how amazing and fun it is to make music. I always make sure that they are enjoying the time we spend together. I like to write arrangements of their favorite songs and music genres for them to play. My favorite part of teaching is how proud I feel watching each of my students improve and grow in technique and artistry.

I ask the student questions that help me understand their individual process with the violin, as well as their relationship to the instrument and expectations in the future with it. The student plays their favorite piece and/or the latest piece they worked on (if they have previous knowledge). This way, I can have an idea of the technical strenghts and difficulties and the level they are currently in, so I can choose appropriate repertoire and exercises that accomodate their individual needs and expectations.

I started teaching at a music foundation for children with low resources in Colombia. I have worked in different music academies and arts programs since then.
All ages, different levels.
It is important to make sure that the teacher is a professional, practicing violinist. The teacher should be constantly improving and performing on a regular basis, so the student can have something inspiring to look up to.
The reasons why they want to learn violin playing, and their favorite music genres and/or pieces (so the teacher can match their repertoire).
