About

I have two Master's degrees in Violin Performance (OU and KSU). I have been playing violin for 23 years and teaching it for 10+ years to students of all ages and levels. I have also played in different orchestras (CityMusic Chamber Orchestra, Akron Symphony, Ohio Valley Symphony, Bogotá Phillharmonic, Colombia National Symphony, etc) and performed in several classical music festivals and tours in different countries. I have performed in chamber music recitals and concerts and played as a soloist as well. Playing Violin is my life and passion and I like to share it with my students so they can enjoy playing as well!

My goal when teaching is laying out a strong technical foundation that gives the student freedom and a natural feeling of comfort with the instrument, and develop artistic and aesthetic criteria of how to use the technical tools provided. My favorite part of teaching is how proud I feel watching each of my students grow and enjoy the instrument.

    Frequently asked questions

I ask the student questions that help me understand their individual process with the violin, as well as their relationship to the instrument and expectations in the future with it. The student plays their favorite piece and/or the latest piece they worked on (if they have previous knowledge). This way, I can have an idea of the technical strenghts and difficulties and the level they are currently in, so I can choose appropriate repertoire and exercises that accomodate their individual needs and expectations. Then, we work together on a set of short and long term goals and a personalized practice/lesson schedule that adheres to the student's availability, lifestyle, and expectations.
