The UToledo Community Music Program offers private lessons in any instrument and voice, as well as group lessons in piano for children in grades 1-6 and for adults. Group guitar lessons are available for high school age students and adults. Lessons are open to members of the community and are taught by UToledo students pursuing music performance and/or music education degrees. The University of Toledo is an accredited institution with the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM).
Some ensembles are also open to the community - the Children's Choir, the Greater Toledo International Youth Orchestra, the UToledo Symphony Orchestra, and the Glass City Singers. For more information, visit the UToledo Community Music Program web page. https://www.utoledo.edu/al/svpa/music/communitymusic/
Private lessons are open to musicians of any age or skill level. However, group lessons are intended for beginners with little to no experience. A music book is included for the beginner group lessons.
Our student music teachers are fully qualified to teach lessons and work under the direction of their faculty. In addition, teaching lessons helps prepare them in their careers as music educators.
Private lessons are $90 for a set of 6 personalized, one-on-one lessons. Group lessons are $75 for 6 (1-hour) lessons and include a music book. Group lesson class sizes are limited to 12, so early registration is essential.
