Darlene Marquez began her musical education at age 3 with piano lessons, then flute lessons at age 7, and cello at age 9. Throughout grade school, she performed and competed in a variety of music festivals, competitions, and state conventions, and participated in a number of local youth symphonies and orchestras. Her first experience with teaching was with her younger sisters for many years in elementary school. She studied privately on all instruments until senior year of high school. Throughout college she continued with paid musical positions and began an active private music studio. Over the years, she has had many long term families study with her and worked with both young and old beginners through intermediate level students. She excels with teaching flute and piano to all levels, but has a particular passion for beginners of all ages. Her personal philosophy is that music is for all people, and that music brings life to the spirit in a unique way! She currently teaches full time and continues to give of her musical talents at organizations weekly. She has performed, taught and played piano and flute for 32 years.
