Collaboration and creative output is vital for high quality piano lessons. In addition to recitals, students can perform for their peers in collaborative classes each month. David Mach also offers expertise in harmony and theory, so that students can compose new pieces and songs at the piano, and perform them for family and friends...

David Mach is a pianist, collaborator, and piano teacher based in Norman and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Mr. Mach offers lessons online, at his studio in Norman, or traveling lessons to the Oklahoma City Metro. As an avid music theory teacher, David’s piano lessons allow students to express themselves through composition and creativity all while learning useful theory concepts to prepare them for competitive performance. Mr. Mach also encourages students to explore their own musical taste through his own arrangements of student favorites.

David received his Master’s degree in Piano Performance at the University of Houston under Madison Endowed Professor of Piano Nancy Weems, and is currently studying his DMA in Piano Performance and Pedagogy at the University of Oklahoma under Dr. Jeongwon Ham and Dr. Barbara Fast. He received his BM under Dr. Kevin Chance at the University of Alabama Moody School of Music. While there, he received prizes in numerous competitions including multiple for AMTA Solo, AMTA Concerto, New Orleans Piano Institute Solo Competition, New Orleans Piano Institute Concerto Competition, Birmingham Music Club Guild, National Federation of Music Clubs, MTNA String Chamber Competition, and the University of Alabama Concerto & Aria competition.

It doesn't matter what your job is, what your music background is, how young or how old you are, seeing students gain a skill that they will have for the rest of their life through their own hard hard work is one of the most valuable things I can find to do in my life. The number one thing I hear from people I meet is that they wished they could play a musical instrument. Here's the good news: it's NEVER too late.

David is a great piano teacher who is passionate, skilled, patient, and encouraging! Both my boys (7 and 12 years old) have enjoyed every lesson with him, and we feel very lucky to have him as our teacher! He knows a lot of different techniques & tricks to improve my boys’ skills and always tailors to each boy’s specific needs. With his help, my 12-year old is able to play advanced pieces much more easily and beautifully, and my 7-year old is establishing good practice habits and making steady progress as well. Thank you, David!

David is a fantastic teacher! I have been taking lessons from him for about 6 months and am amazed at how much I have learned. He is incredibly patient and encouraging. I appreciate the fact that we set goals and that he challenges me to achieve those goals. He is incredibly gifted, and I would highly recommend him as a teacher!

"I wish I had learned to play the piano when I was younger." After studying and performing on the piano for many years, this was the most common thing I heard from the people I played for. This was sad to me at first, because I knew people could learn to play piano at any age. I had seen this happen time after time. I began teaching others to share my passion for sharing music, and allowing people to gain skills that they always wanted.

Look for a teacher who can adapt to your student. I pride myself in searching every day to adapt my teaching style for the individual strengths and weaknesses of each student.
