Andrew Yates

With over 10 years of professional music performance and teaching experience across a broad span of styles and instruments, as well as a Bachelor's degree in Jazz Studies and Audio Production from the University of Oregon, Andrew brings a fun, focused and engaging experience to every lesson!

Lessons with Andrew are student-experience driven, meaning that not only can the student expect to get a solid grounding in the fundamentals of music, which transcends instruments, but they can also expect to apply those fundamentals to music which inspires and excites them to keep learning.

Andrew is a big believer in helping each student hone their practice methods so they can have a more fun and rewarding experience playing their instrument. When teaching new skills or songs, Andrew shows his students how to practice by walking them through his methodical “divide and conquer” approach. By helping his students break down skills and songs into bite-size chunks, the student can develop a straight forward goal-based plan for learning anything they put their mind to!
