What is your typical process for working with a new student?
For Mandarin/Chinese classes, I would look at the student's level of speech and reading skills.
Beginners level: Greetings, Numbers, Basic vocabulary
Intermediate level 1: Phrases, Vocabulary(e.g. transportation, food, occupation), Conversation
Intermediate level 2: Phrases, Vocabulary(e.g. time, family members, business), Conversation
I had a hobby of songwriting (lyrics, theory) growing up. In high school, I had written a piece for a Trio Dali and Chinese orchestras too. I prefer to cater to my student's specific requirements when it comes to songwriting.
Preferably Pop, Classical, Rap.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I went to an all Chinese Primary/Middle school and as for high school, I was taught a Beijing course. As well as I am a native speaker in Malaysia. I am both fluent in Chinese and English.
I have completed certification of ABRSM and Cambridge Music O-levels with honors.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Chinese/Mandarin Classes:
Basic level= $15/hr or $50/four hours
Intermediate level 1 & 2= $25/hr or $80/ four hours
Songwriting:
$15-50/ piece (depending on how long it takes)
How did you get started teaching?
A few parents have reached out to me after noticing my outstanding grades in high school. From then, I started to teach students who are still at a basic level.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have previously taught from ages 8-14 for songwriting and chinese classes.
