About

I teach violin of all ages, levels, and styles, specializing in beginner pedagogy. My biggest priority in lessons is discovering what works best with each individual student, and catering to their unique struggles and strengths, while building on what inspires them through their musical journey.

I love teaching beginners of all ages, including adult beginners, while working with tranfer students, advanced students, as well as students with specific style interestes (rock, fiddle, jazz, etc.).

Taking an insturment that can seem so daunting like the violin, paving an enjoyable journey for students, and witnessing the empowerment they gain from it is one of the most rewarding things I have ever been apart of.

Frequently asked questions

Getting to know the student as a whole person is the first priority. From there we work together to find how this instrument and their music fit into their life and their musical goals. This includes what inspires them, what their work ethic and practice style is, etc.

My pedagogy training started in Klamath Falls when I assisted the orchestra teacher focusing on teaching beginner technique. Ever since this first year teaching, I finished my Bachelors degree while studying violin, began teaching middle school orchestra in 2017, and have been teaching private lessons in the Salem area since 2016. I use a variety of teaching methods and styles, and believe in a contunial growth mindset as a teacher, as well as promoting this for my students.

I bill monthly, but charge per lesson.

I also offer scaled rates to make lessons more affordable for families who need it, and offer merit and need-based scholarships as well.

I would ask teachers if they offer a free first lesson (or "trial" lesson), and then try a few teachers to see who you feel you would work best with!

Finding a teacher who fits you and your needs can make all the difference in the world in your journey with your instrument.

1) What am I looking for in lessons?

2) What does the process of learning this instrument look like?

3) How much time should I prepare to dedicate to my instrument each week?

4) What inspired me to learn this instrument?
