Brandon says, "Over the last 15 years I really let myself go. At one point I weighed in at 355 lbs. A number of things gathered in my mind that helped me convince myself not even to attempt to workout or start eating right again. The hardest part was eating right. For years I ate as a necessity of convenience. I thought that I needed a red bull and sugar to wake up in the A.M. Turns out, going to the gym and eating a well balanced breakfast works the same, if not better! I lost 35lbs in First 1st month!" Read more

Debbie B. says, "Hello, My name is Debbie Barenfeld and I have been an active independent fitness instructor for 26 years. Back in the day when I first became an instructor what was offered in the gyms was very limited, floor aerobics & step aerobics. About 1 year into teaching I took a master class in Boxing/Cardio Kickboxing and I was hooked and knew from that point on that was what I wanted to teach. I met Master Smyer at a gym that he and I were teaching at. He was teaching Martial Arts and I was teaching group fitness which included Cardio Kickboxing. I always had a fascination for Martial Arts, as a child I took Judo classes & as a young adult in college I enrolled in a coed Karate class. I would watch & listen to Master Smyer teach & instruct his classes & I thought I need to try and fit this into my schedule. It was the most AMAZING decision I have ever made. First beside being a coworker with Master Smyer, he then became my teacher. His knowledge is limitless and I wanted to learn as much as I possibly could from him. Second training with Master Smyer elevated my Cardio Kickboxing classes to a whole other level as well as my stamina & fitness. Third I have a true understanding for Martial Arts. It definitely grounds you as well as it teaches you respect, focus, breathing techniques & discipline. It is meant to be learned in a safe and healthy environment. It helps in building self confidence, self esteem & self awareness. Whether you have a young child or you are an active adult Martial Arts does not discriminate against age. It is the perfect outlet for teens trying to find their way. Master Smyer is amongst the BEST OF THE BEST! " Read more

His dedication and passion for the game are evident in the way he leads his team and the results they have achieved under his guidance. How much do online fitness classes cost?

Online fitness classes cost $10 to $50 per month on average. The monthly subscription fee typically gives you unlimited access to prerecorded classes available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Some subscriptions, like Peloton, also include online access to interactive live-streamed classes.

Can I use my HSA to pay for fitness classes?

You can only use your Health Savings Account (HSA) to pay for fitness classes if your physician or nurse practitioner prescribes an exercise regimen for a specific medical condition.

Your physician must write a letter of medical necessity (LMN) confirming the classes are intended to treat or prevent a medical condition, and you must provide a copy of the letter to the IRS when filing your taxes. The LMN is typically good for one year from the date it's signed. However, your physician may recommend a shorter duration.

Does Planet Fitness or Anytime Fitness have group classes?

Yes, Planet Fitness and Anytime Fitness both offer group fitness classes led by certified personal trainers. Classes at both gyms are limited to small groups to allow the trainer to provide direct coaching as needed. Most franchise locations offer these classes 10 to 14 times per day, and members can attend unlimited classes.

What kind of fitness classes are available?

Group fitness classes are available in a wide variety of styles, making it easy to find one that best suits your needs. Popular class options include:

How do I choose the best fitness class near me?

When choosing a fitness class, first decide on your goals for the class. Are you looking to improve your cardio health, strength, endurance, mobility, or all of the above? Once you have an idea of your goals in mind, follow these tips:

  • Check out the classes available in your area to see which style most appeals to you.
  • Ask for recommendations from friends, family, and your medical provider.
  • Read the class and instructor reviews on Lessons and Google.
  • Get a day pass or take a free trial class at the gym or studio.
  • Don't sign a monthly or annual contract until you've taken a free class.

What questions should I ask about fitness classes before joining?

When evaluating a gym or fitness studio, ask these questions to help you find the best fitness class for you:

  • What is the class schedule?
  • Do you charge by the class or by the month?
  • How many classes per month does the membership plan include?
  • Do you require members to subscribe for a minimum number of months or an annual plan?
  • Do you offer a free trial class or day pass?
  • Are your class instructors also certified personal trainers?
  • How many people are in a typical class?
  • Are there any rules about what to wear to the class?
  • Will I need to bring any equipment, like a yoga mat or towel?

Charles is an amazing trainer, he knows the intricacies of the musculoskeletal system and how it coordinates with different exercises with different weights. He’s not a trainer that will leave you to your own devices and give you an exercise to do and that’s it. Charles takes the time and the focus to place it on your through every rep and movement, he guides you on the focusing of the particular muscle being worked to achieve the highest quality of work done.

At 28 I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's Thyroid Disease and it's been very tough on me. The doctors told me I could lose up to 3 lbs a year if I work really hard. It was very discouraging but I accepted it. Last July, I came off the meds because I felt like they were poisoning me and I saw no change with them. I gained weight, I didn't sleep well at night and I had no energy. Now, I sleep like a baby and I lost 12lbs in just 1 month! I never wore dresses because my mommy tummy poked through, now I love dresses.

Master Smyer, Here is my testimonial for your website...it's kinda long!! My motive to begin training was really about being in the right place at the right time. When I was in my early 20's a new gym named CanDo opened in my hometown. They offered a Tae Kwon Do program and my cousin asked me to join with him. I was very interested because when I was 10 years old I studied Karate for 1 year but stopped for some reason and now was my chance to get back into it. Little did I know that I would train and earn my first degree Black Belt there with the best teacher I've ever known! The benefits that I received were many. Master Smyer's instruction style created an atmosphere that enabled me to build up my endurance, get stronger both physically and mentally, to persevere, and most of all, to be patient. Master Smyer was a role model not just a teacher. His display of patience with students of any age was truly inspiring. My overall experience was that this was a time in my life that I will never forget. I trained at CanDo for 6 years, which turns out to be most of my 20's, but then I moved to another state so I had to end my time in this program. I was in the best shape of my life, I wasn't afraid to challenge myself, and I learned that anything was possible. I will always have a love for Master Smyer and how me helped me become the person I am today. He will always be a prominent figure in my life!
