I have over 25 years of experience in violin and viola. I teach beginner, intermediate level and advanced students. Through careful and energetic instruction, I teach my students how to practice diligently and play with confidence and musical expression. My students have ranked in the top 5 at the District 10 auditions and have participated in the Young People's Philharmonic and Junior Strings of the Lehigh Valley, even sitting First Chair. My approach is centered around the individual student and is based on the philosophy that every child can learn.
As a string teacher, I engage with the students on several different levels. First there is the discipline of learning to play the instrument. Then there is the creative process that brings the music to life. I love it when a student works hard on a passage and then gets it to sound just the way he wants it. I also love when a child says to me, "Wow this lesson went by fast!" And when I hear students humming their music as they pack up their violins to leave, I know that they're really enjoying playing their instrument.
Ms. Phyllis is a phenomenal teacher. She's kind, patient and always cheerful. My child enjoys his lessons with her and he has improved a lot over the past two years. I highly recommend her if you are looking for a good teacher.
Very polite and understands each of my 3 kids needs and skills. Phyllis works well with each and makes it both fun and learning. She is willing to cooperate when any of them are having a bad day. She has been giving my boys lessons since 4th grade and they are now in high school. Would always recommend Phyllis to anyone at any skill level! Such a pleasure to have her as a teacher.
My daughter really enjoys her violin lessons with Phyllis. She is very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Highly recommend!
My daughter has been taking violin lessons for almost 2 years now. Ms. Phyllis is kind, patient and passionate about what she does. That passion can be seen in her lessons. My daughter enjoys going to Ms.Phyllis and is learning so much.
I offer 30 minute, 45 minute, and one hour lessons, depending on the needs of the students and their level of advancement. For beginners and intermediate level students, standard tuition in my studio is $30 for a half hour and $60 for an hour. If my schedule allows, I may be able to come to the student's home provided that it is within a 10 mile radius of my studio, for an additional fee. Due to our current covid-19 situation, I may determine that it is possible to begin lessons online, however, I will expect the student to eventually migrate to in -person lessons. When we speak, we can discuss the optimal length of time for the lesson along with location and scheduling.
