I would highly recommend Keisha Prosser. If you are looking for an interesting and healthy Lesson about food, then Keisha is your person. We have had her at the Jenkintown Library for a number of programs for both teens and adults. Her bubbly personality and extensive knowledge of food and healthy ways to prepare it just delight her audience. She will have them all working hands-on to prepare wonderful edibles. She always includes recipes and helpful hints( such as where to buy inexpensive thermal bags) with her program. She brings all the ingredients. We provided the stove, but I think shoe would have had a work -around if we did not have one. By the end of the program everyone feels like family sitting down to share a meal at the table.

The Mobile Cooking Teacher is beloved by our library kiddos and adults. She's provided many hands-on cooking classes at the library, teaching our youth and adults to prepare tasty, simple meals. It's evident she cares deeply about sharing her skills and improving the lives of others through culinary education.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have a degree in Pastry Arts from the Restaurant School at Walnut Hill College. I work in the Food Service Industry for the last 20 year's. I teach Healthy Cooking and Fod Safety Workshop in Philadelphia

How did you get started teaching?

Working in the School District of Philadelphia, it's no Home Economic and a lot of students do not know how to cooking or baking something simple. By teaching this class my students or my clients will learn basic cooking/Baking methods, food safety, knife skills, Math, Science, History, Reading. A life skill that would not grow old.

What types of students have you worked with?

I'm blessed to say I teach all ages.

Pre school students learn baking because of measuring, knife skills and reading recipes

Pre teens and teens learn all the skills in series of Cooking Classes knife skills, basic cooking/baking methods, food safety, understanding and reading recipes

Adults learning how to cook with less salt and sugar in their diet. Bring fun back to the kitchen

Describe a recent event you are fond of.

I love working with the Free Library of Philadelphia the students and Adults I would is priceless. Hands on Cooking Classes. Everyone enjoy the food that they cook for the class. They also can't believe how the food take only 30 minutes or less to cook. Its Healthy and Simple to cook.
