Hi there, I'm Courtney! I am a Drexel University Almuni currently teaching group exercise classes and private dance lessons throughout Philadelphia. I have an extensive background in dance instruction and choreography (ages 4+). My specialties include Ballet, Pointe, Contemporary, Lyrical, Jazz, Urban and Commercial Hip Hop, and Wedding Choreography. I have access to a beautiful private studio in Logan Square, Philadelphia or we can do a virtual ZOOM lesson! I am passionate about creating art and perfecting technique, and together we will reach your goals - no matter what they are!
Fitness - I specialize in high impact (HIIT & Circuit Training) as well as mid-low impact (Stretch/Strengthen & Meditation) techniques for maximum results in targeted weight loss, strength training, full body toning/conditioning, and injury prevention. I tailor each workout based on your individual abilities and goals. Also happy to provide daily health and wellness tips!
Dance - I have trained and performed nationally alongside world renowned artists such as Adrienne Canterna and Rasta Thomas (Bad Boys of Dance), Robert Roldan (SYTYCD), David Parsons (Parsons Dance), Madame Akhmedova (Kirov Ballet Academy) and more! I have taught and choreographed dance for children and adults of all ages in both group and personal lessons.
I find inspiration in motivating others to change their lives for the better, and I feel very grateful that I get to be part of your journey to happiness and personal success.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Dance: I have trained in Ballet, Pointe, Variations, Contemporary, Modern, Lyrical, Jazz, Tap, Character, and Musical Theatre for over 20 years with Kirov Ballet Academy, Maryland Festival Ballet, Bad Boys of Dance, Koresh Dance Company, Parsons Dance, and Drexel University's Dance Ensemble. I have been awarded for choreography and performance quality at several national conventions for solo and group performances. I danced professionally with Roger Lee, and guest appeared at Philadanco's Founder's Day Concert. I have taught children group dance classes ages 3-14 and choreographed on professionals ages 16-25.
Fitness: I earned my Zumba certification in 2014 and my Certifed Personal Trainer license in 2020. I have since taught group exercise classes and personal sessions throughout Philadelphia both in-studio and virtually. I enjoy teaching High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), Circuit Training, Stretch & Strengthen, and Zumba classes. I am currently researching and developing new fitness series designed to lose weight and condition the body in an innovative and efficient way!

How did you get started teaching?
I started dancing recreationally when I was 3 years old. I began seriously training and competing nationally when I was 8 years old, where I have since been widely recognized for my performance talent and choreography. While studying for my Bachelor of Science degree in Entertainment Arts Management, I continued my dance training while exploring concert performance and choreography at the professional level. At this time, I also fell in love with instructing fitness and earned my Zumba certification. After training in dance and fitness for 4-5 hours per day, I realized just how significantly your body and your health contribute to your overall happiness and personal success. I always enjoyed helping people and this way I can help you become the best version of yourself!
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with children ages 3-14 in a large group setting. I have worked with adults ages 20-24 in small and large group settings. I feel comfortable working with anyone who is eager to listen, learn, and try their best!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
For dance, look at who they have worked with. Anyone who has had the privilege of working with current professionals has earned that opportunity with hard work and dedication. For fitness, check if they are diverse in a variety of styles rather than an expert in just one area. This can make for a more interesting and well-rounded workout as opposed to boring and redundant sessions.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What are some of your goals? Do those goals have a specific timeline? What are some things that restrict you (i.e., injuries, disabilities, etc)? Are you willing to do some training exercises (i.e., low impact conditioning, stretching, etc) on your own in between sessions?
