A graduate of the Opera program at the prestigious Curtis Institute of Music where all students attend tuition-free, I am currently a professional opera singer and vocal pedagogue in the Philadelphia area.
I have a seamless vocal technique which allows me to navigate between not only classical vocal genres, but also musical theatre, pop, rock, jazz, and country, all utilizing the foundation of healthy vocal production and proper breath control.
I have performed in all of the genres mentioned above, and have earned awards in them on the local, national, and international level.
My teaching experiences include voice faulty at the Curtis Summerfest, in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam at the Soul Music & Performing Arts Academy, The Philadelphia School, building a music program at South Philadelphia High School, and maintaining a private voice studio since 2012.
I have an acute sense of empathy for my students, helping them to navigate any physical or emotional barriers to performance, and have examined a variety of teaching methodologies including techniques specialized for each learning style: visual, auditory, and kinesthetic.
Deriving pedagogy from the principles of body-mapping and visual-auditory coordination in ear-training, students leave my lessons with a deep knowledge of not only the physical mechanism of their voice, but a strong sense of their various vocal registrations, and how they relate physically and visually to pitch sense and vocal production.
I have proven success in aiding students who otherwise believed themselves to be tone-deaf to gain the necessary understanding and connection to proper pitch-matching.
Thus, I specialize in teaching refined detail work to an already experienced singer who is performing at the professional level, as well as a brand new beginner who is eager and motivated to learn. I have experience in working with students ages 6-66!
I really find joy in seeing my students succeed. My students become the teachers in the end, based on the thorough knowledge they have gained during our time together, and can tangibly describe their own vocal technique and process.
