Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Setting our goals together.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I studied with the best violin teachers in the world and I graduated from the Moscow State Conservatory (MMD in violin performance) and Temple University (MMD string pedagogy).
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
How much I charge it depends on what the level of the student is and on what we need to work on.
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching really young (16 y.o.) I was an enfant prodige and many musicians (even much older than me, always asked for lessons).
What types of students have you worked with?
From beginners to Doctoral students.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
My Carnegie hall debut in February 2020. It's especially important to me this concert because it was my last one before COVID 19
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
There are great performers who are terrible teachers and terrible performers who are terrible teachers and performers. What you cannot make with your own hands, there's no way you'll be able to help someone else to make it with their own hands. The first and most important quality of a good teacher is to be a good player. A suggestion to all of students who are interested in learning music.... Listen to your teachers... if they have never been able to play decently, it means they will never be able to teach you anything decently
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
just a short funny story.... Today my student: “Maestro, it’s not fair that you can just pick up the violin and play any super difficult passage impeccably at first try. How many hours do I need to practice to play like you?”..... I answered: “around 30000 hours, do you think that’s fair enough to play impeccably any difficult passage?”......lol
