Mr. Laskey has been a music educator for 35 years. He is a specialist in violin and viola. He has taught in the Souderton School District, Norristown Area School District and Montgomery County Community College. He has a Bachelor of Science in Music Education from West Chester University and a Master's in Education from Cabrini University. Along with years of teaching strings, he has also been band director. He is the music director for the Norristown Verdi Band and performs on viola in the Warminster Symphony and the Orchestra Concordia in Radnor, PA.
I love to watch students progress through weekly lessons. There is nothing more satisfying for me than to see the student learn and progress.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I establish a starting point and the student and I will discuss a learning plan from there. I recommend time honored traditional methods and use Suzuki and Traditional repertoire

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I do not have a preference. I will work out payment details with the student and family. I encourage ages 12 and older to have a 45 minute lesson. My fee is $40. For students aged 6-11, a 30 minute lesson is recommended. My fee is $30
How did you get started teaching?
After earning a bachelor's degree in 1984, Mr. Laskey began teaching strings and band instruments in public schools in Souderton and the Norristown, PA school districts. He has been a music educator for 35 years.
What types of students have you worked with?
Mr.Laskey has taught ages 8 through adult. He taught at Montgomery County Community College, Chamber Strings and String Lessons. He retired from public school teaching and his adjunct position after 35 years. He is building a private studio now!
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Mr.Laskey is very excited to welcome students to his home music studio! He is particulatly interested in students that want to progress.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Students should at least own a beginning level instrunent to get started. Students should be willing to practice at home. Younger students will work on traditional and/or Suzuki repertoire. Older students will work on scales, etudes and time honored string solo repertoire.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Students may choose to participate in Zoom music lessons now and possibly switch to in-person lessons in Mr. Lasjey's studio once it is safe to do so in person.
