I have always loved singing! I grew up performing in church, musical theater, and competition choirs. My undergrad and masters studies were both centered on the voice. In due time, my life dream was clear to me - to be a professional vocal coach!

FAQs

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

I offer a FREE initial consultation in person and via Skype during which I assess a client's voice. I begin with asking questions about a client's current goals for their singing. After diving into their background, we start making music! Once I have assessed the voice we discuss my recommendations and create a plan together for how we will achieve their goals.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

-Master of Music in Vocal Pedagogy, Belmont University -Bachelor of Arts in Vocal Performance, Seattle Pacific University An active member of: -Pan-American Vocology Association (PAVA) -National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) -Northwest Institute of Voice (NWIV)

What types of students have you worked with?

I have worked with everything from 8 year olds recovering from vocal nodules to 80 year olds who want to sing as a hobby! I have worked with all genres including commercial, pop, country, rock, opera, and classical.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.

I recently received a grant for a singing program for underprivileged youth in a local non profit organization. I worked with 20 students who would not otherwise receive voice and performance training. It was an absolute joy to be able to watch those children learn and grow as singers, performers, and musicians!

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

My recommendation for any prospective student is to really do your research! Make sure the coach you're looking for has the proper education and training to help you reach your specific goals. Don't hesitate to call them on the phone first and have a healthy dialogue about their approach to teaching. Always trust your gut!

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?

Make sure you know what your specific goals are so that you can ask your prospective coach if they are able to help you accomplish them :)
