Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Typically I begin with the basics - setup, get-to-know-you questions, etc. If they are new to the violin, I'll have them begin with Suzuki Book 1, with an intention to add additional fun pieces as soon as possible.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I'm trained in the Suzuki violin method books 1-3 and am currently being trained in book 4.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
$30 per half-hour lesson, $45 per hour lesson (age 12 and up only)
How did you get started teaching?
Back in 2014, I decided to just go for it. It worked out well!
What types of students have you worked with?
Beginner to intermediate students from age 5-adulthood
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Amanda Gorman's performance of her poem "The Hill We Climb"
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look for one who meshes with your learning style. The teacher could be great, but if they don't teach the way you learn, it probably won't work. Be specific and honest about your needs and your feedback.
