About
Hello! I hope you will consider a trial lesson in my violin/viola studio. I have over 10 years of experience teaching in the private studio with Suzuki Teacher Training through Book 4. I am also a credentialed music teacher in the state of CA with a license in TN. I support my students through an adapted Suzuki approach that is tailored to each student and their learning style.
Teaching students music who are excited to learn is the best job and I feel privileged to do it. I look forward to building a robust private studio here in Nashville with performance opportunities and chances to learn in a group setting with other students and families.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I ensure that all new students have the materials that they need: a properly-fitted and functional instrument, and any learning materials. Students are introduced to concepts in a systematic way with clear guidelines for how to achieve tasks.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a BA in music, a Master of Music in viola performance, and Master of Arts in Teaching.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge 70 dollars per hour. My students start with half hour lessons which are $35.00.
How did you get started teaching?
I became passionate about teaching through the String Project program during graduate school. There I learned how to break down material for students and understand the importance of details and how small pieces create big successes.
What types of students have you worked with?
Most of my group work has been with students at the elementary level. In private teaching I have taught a wide range of ages and abilities. I take students from the age of 3.5 years old and my oldest student was in their 80s.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I am always excited to see students becoming excited about participating in music learning. There are so many examples of this in my job as a public school music teacher. Students are really starting to care about how they are doing in a task and are willing to try something many times as they learn a skill.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Never stay with a teacher who cannot explain why they are having you learn a concept in a specific way. You should always be able to ask why.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Many times students need to talk through a concept with a teacher before knowing what their needs even are. Students should never hesitate to discuss their needs with their teacher. The more a teacher learns about his or her students the more well-rounded the lessons will be for both student and teacher.
